Written on December 13, 2004 by Josh Pigford and 3 people have commented

According to MacDailyNews, Apple isn’t real sure what it wants to do about the next line of computers they kick out. The obvious progression would be to name them “G6″ but, General Motor’s has a new car out kindly named the Pontiac G6 and they are more concerned with legal issues as opposed to competition.

Ok, it seems that you all have a lot to say about iEmulator. But, since we are all busy, Im just going to sum up all of your comments. Most of the feedback Ive received is saying that while the 30 dollar price point is great, the software its self is only worth about that. [...]

iPod Ad, Not By Apple

Written on December 13, 2004 by Nick Santilli and 2 people have commented

A school teacher in Orange County, CA has created his own iPod Mini ad in his spare time. He did it for fun, and has no connection (yet) with Apple Computer. The ad’s production qualities are superb, and display the kind of fanatacism that Apple products tend to garner.
The Ad is [...]

iPod Killer?

Written on December 11, 2004 by Chris Holland and 3 people have commented

Christmas season is upon us and online magazines have been musing about an “iPod Killer”.
Here’s why I believe these “other guys” are looking at a sizable challenge:
iPod has struck the ultimate balance of features, portability, usability and outstanding design. The “other guys” are trying hard to match this balance, but inevitably run into the next [...]

i-Tablet Mod

Written on December 10, 2004 by Dan Lurie and 1 person has commented

This guy seemingly couldn’t wait for Apple to make a tablet.
As a Photographer and a Dyslexic the idea of being able to use a Tablet as a platform for showing photographs, editing, and an extension of my badly organized memory is very appealing. I had purchased an early QBE, which I was happy with, except [...]

Man Proposes With iPod

Written on December 10, 2004 by Dan Lurie and 5 people have commented

Its so sweet! And geekey!
So the day is almost here.
I got this idea when my girlfriend fell in love with the iPod this summer after seeing my cousins´husband´s iPod in action.
Great, I´ll get her one (which we both can use) for our anniversary I thought.
When I got online to order one from the Apple store, [...]

iEmulator

Written on December 10, 2004 by Dan Lurie and 13 people have commented

It seems that there is a new Windoze emulator out for Mac. iEmulator claims to be just as fast as Virtual PC, but are more realistic in their approach.
The G4 numbers are lower than what another commercial emulator is telling me; it says my emulated PC is running at over 1 GHz!
The numbers we quote [...]

At a MacWorld keynote in 2000, Steve Jobs pitched the Mac as the Digital Hub, and shortly afterwards released the iPod. Now that technology has had a few years to advance, this concept is finally coming to life…
The iPod was Apple’s first component of the Digital Hub (other than the Mac of course ). [...]

Oracle Gives a Big Nod to Apple

Reportedly, Oracle has begun running Apple’s Xserve RAID servers within their technology infrastructure. Citing a cost savings by 3 times, per megabyte. That turns into huge savings when Oracle plans to expand anywhere from 50 to 100 terabytes of Apple’s RAID storage systems.
Oracle continues to move forward with their plan to release their [...]

Combo Drives No More in 2005

Written on December 07, 2004 by Nick Santilli and No one has commented

No more Combo Drives (CD Burner/DVD ROM) in Apple Notebooks at some point in 2005? As notebook sales heat-up, there’s a competitive edge to offering DVD Burners as standard equipment. Look for Apple to start on this course sometime, problably mid 2005.
My thought is that the standard may be the current Super Drive [...]

Flash iPod Confirmed

Written on December 07, 2004 by Nick Santilli and 1 person has commented

The Mac Mind has confirmed the coming of a Flash iPod. (Apparently from an tipster, and then confirmed by an Apple source.)
Sounds like it’s about half the size of a business card (height-wise at least), no screen (um, interesting…), and sounds as if it’ll be available in 256mb - 1gb models.
Oh, and if [...]

SMB Manager for Network Servers on OS X

If you’ve got a lot (1 or more) servers that you connect to from your OS X machine, you’ve probably been frustrated that it’s not simpler to keep that server or servers saved for the next time you need them. Sure, the Finder will save the list of servers you’ve recently connected to, but [...]
