“iPhone” Announced by Motorola at CES
eWeek’s got the exclusive apparently. The Motorola phone that works with iTunes has been demo’d or at least talked about at CES. There’s no pictures which is a drag, but hopefully we only have to wait for Steve to show it off next week.
It syncs with a computer and the iTunes Music Store like an iPod does, and incorporates the iPod interface for navigating and playing digital music
Sounds cool…I’ll reserve final judgement until I see it though. Hopefully Apple had some say in the UI of the software because I personally am not fond of Motorola’s phone menu interfaces. (I like Sony Ericsson’s best, if you really care to know.) Wonder if Motorola has gone so far as to model the phone in white tones along the lines of Apple’s product line.
As soon as pictures surface, we’ll link them (Don’t want to host them or anything for fear of a ThinkSecret style lawsuit, assuming we find pictures prior to the official announcement - at MacWorld?)
UPDATE:
Looks like a couple pictures have popped-up.
from CES
the Motorola E398
Thanks Chris and Jonesy for the finds!!!

#3 nick santilli says:great find Chris! looks nice from what I can make out. (somewhat like the SE T610 i think)
can’t wait for detail specs and price. With Apple involved, I’m hoping that BT built-in is a no-brainer…

#4 Jonesy says:More here as well (I _think_ this is it?). Link

#5 chris holland says:i sure as shit hope T-Mobile will carry the phone. I’ll be SO all over that shit, OMFG.

#6 nick santilli says:yeah, I’m with you Chris, it’d better work for T-mobile.
I read someplace (I cannot for the life of me find where it was) that it would have a space for a SIM card, meaning it would be fairly platform independent, which also means it’d be good to go for T-mobile…
crossing my fingers, legs, toes, tes - anyway.

#10 Jonesy says:Update: “But a Motorola representative clarified on Friday that the phone shown during the keynote was not the actual iTunes phone that is slated for release this year. Instead, it was a Motorola E398 equipped with the iTunes functionality for the demonstration.” Sorry for the red herring folks!

#11 nick santilli says:on the “iHome”:
I’m going with fake. close examination of too many of those images look like a *pretty* good printer paper cover up of some other box. awesome if it’s true. I doubt it though.
“iTunes Phone”:
Jonesy, thanks for the clarification. The more I looked up the E398 the more I wondered… I’d like the E398! I’m only assuming the actual one will be truly sick!

#12 Jonesy says:Those pictures are way off. I’m certain (as far as I can with no evidence) they are mockups. They look like runouts stuck on cardboard boxes - especially the one with the ports. Remind me of the iMac spoofs.
