Yeah, hopefully they will partner on a newer faster all around better ppc, instead of just moving to x86. cheers!

It’s not official. Nowhere in the CNet article does it say it’s official – it has merely “learned” that Apple will switch.

I certainly believe that if there’s anything to be made of the rumours, its that Intel will make PowerPC chips, nothing else. There is no way, as you say, that Apple will realistically switch to x86, but Intel knows how to make processors (to say nothing of their ability to design them – cf Itanic :P).

Microsoft switches to PowerPC from Intel for its XBox. Meanwhile, Apple switches to Intel from PowerPC for Macs. Hmm. Wait – what’s that flying in the air? Wha – OH! It’s a flying pig! Hmmm…..
