Hi could you please tell me how to create a trigger for the shelf? The default triggers for the Clipboard and Shelf only work when I'm at the QS application, and I want them to work in any application. Thanks

So when I invoke Quicksilver and type "cli" for Clipboard History, the default item is Search Contents. If I tab to the default item and type "s", it changes to Show. How can I get Show to show up by default after typing "cli" without needing to hit Tab and then type out "show"?

First off, thanks for all the great work you during the screencasts! Your help has definitely made the Quicksilver experience better. Unfortunately...I need some help on the clipboard.

I have both the Clipboard Module and Shelf Module installed. Strangely enough, the 'Shelf and Clipboard' option doesn't appear in the catalogue which makes it tough to access clipboard history and other stuff.

What can I do to fix this? I rescanned my library and also tried to reinstall the plugins. Thanks for all the great work, it's a lifesaver!

back a year ago (almost—October 2006) you published a nifty screencast for using QS and the clipboard. In one segment you show dragging and dropping in the actions section to change the numerical priority of actions. You mention that double click/type in new number doesn't work well for you. Well, it doesn't work for me either; unfortunately, neither does drag and drop: I just get everything between the selection and the direction I'm dragging in to "select", that is, blue background. No drop at all. Can you think of a reason for this, or, better, a fix? I'm using QS B51 (3800). Thank you. Your work is great, and helpful. Fred Weiner

For anyone still having trouble setting this up, try looking for the module under Catalog > Modules > Shelf & Clipboard. If you hit the 'Show Info' icon and nothing appears in the 'Contents' pull-out drawer, then try rescanning 'Shelf & History.' This should do the trick.

Nick,
Terrific screencast! As a new Quicksilver user I greatly appreciate all your informative demonstrations. They've been a tremendous help. Keep it up. Cheers.

Great screencast!
I'm wondering if there is a way to have Paste be the default action when I am in my Clipboard History trigger but have its normal ranking otherwise. I only ever want to paste something from my clipboard so I want it to be the default for everything there, but I don't want it to be the default for when I am doing any other action.
Also, is there any way be able to paste based on the number of the item (fifth, for example) without having to mouse down to it?
Thanks for your help!

If you're still having problems with this I just took a look at the documentation.

You're going to have to update the catalog via a Quicksilver command.

If you type in "Shelf " (with the space) the first item that comes up should be "Shelf & Catalog". Tab over and type "Rescan" and hit enter and it should work as Nick described it above.

Great Screencast. I am just devouring all of this Quicksilver stuff.

hi, i am a quicksilver junckie, but i don't get quicksilver's clipboard history thing yet.
i understand your screencast. but in quicksilver built-in guide, it says i can copy the item just by double-clicking it or type the number next to the item. However, it doesn't work for me.
I'm using the latest version right now.
Can you help me with this? thanx

Hi

Grat screencast. Still having problems finding the Shelf plugin though. I did as you said in the comment above, but i still cant find a Shelf plugin in the Plugins menu. There is one Shelf Module, is that the same thing?
Also there is a Shelf and Clipboard in the Catalog, although it is in Catalog -> Modules instead of in Catalog -> Quicksilver. Am i running a older version than you where n the screencast?

Thankful for any help!
Igor

I cant make this work on my installation.
I'm running B51. I cant find Clipboard History, I can find a Clipboard Contents...

Do you know if there's a great deal of difference between what you were using when you put together this demo, and the release of QS that i am running?

Thanks.

You can hide The clipboard history window to the edge of your screen. Just drag the clipboard history window to the edge of screen and it will disappear. Using mouse point could bring it back！

I had problems getting it to work. I had to do the following:

Catalog Tab->Quicksilver->Shelf & Clipboard->Set "Rescan" to manual

Then I clicked the button to "rescan the source" and everything was there.

Then I changed rescan back to Every 10 minutes

Hope this helps

I still miss Butler's great clipboard history feature, but it doesn't make sense to install Butler just for that - so this will do for now. Thanks for the tip.

By the way, the Paste command is very buggy. I only got it to work once, and all other times it crashed the app it was trying to paste in. Copying first and then pasting doesn't make any sense, especially when you are coding, but I will have to get used to it for now, as this is still better than the other options out there (PopCopy, Jumpcut, etc.)
