It will not run well at all on a MacBook. 3D performance of the built-in graphics chip is not good. Unfortunately, Civ 4 is very dependent on this even if you turn the settings all of the way down. It's more of an app issue though, you could definitely code around this limitation but they didn't.

Has anyone used it on a Macbook (non-pro)? I would love to play this game, but I heard the graphics card would not handle it. Thoughts?

The game is fantastyc!
But you can also put the Huns and the Magyars in the game as a civilization, because for example the Magyars (Hungaryan people) still exist!!
Ang Hungary was a big empire in Europe before the first WW...

Maybe this is heresy, but I think there is too much emphasis on eye-candy and not enough on game play in Civ 4.

This version makes me long for the simplicity of Civ 2. This version has so many variables to adjust that the overall strategy falls to the side.

Man! Thanks ClunkClunk! I forgot to tell people about the best part - the voice of Spock. Normally when reaching advances I just click through them, but this time I patiently waited as Leonard read each topical quote.

Oh, and yes Dennis - contrary to my nature this game did captivate me. In fact I found that my time playing the game increased exponentially over the course of the week I spent reviewing it.

Ugh, the game wastes so much of my downtime, the wife constantly compains that I should come up and see the sun from time to time. I just tell her to shut up and fetch me a beer, before I send all my bombers over to her couch and blow the hell out of her. Usually by the time I finish that, she's already left the room.

You make this game sound really good! This is coming from a man finds this genre of game can hold his interest for all of 2 minutes. ;-)

I really enjoy the voice of Leonard Nimoy (of Star Trek fame), being the narrator for civilization advances. Adds a nice touch of geek class to the entire package.
