Parallels Busts-Out a New Beta Version

Written on December 01, 2006 by Nick Santilli and 2 people have commented

Just today Parallels released their latest beta of their popular Virtualization software. While I haven’t had a chance to give it a try just yet, I have been testing it out as a replacement for my Windows Laptop at work. I’m crafting the piece right now, so keep an eye out for that very shortly.

In the meantime, check out the new release which looks to have some very tasty features. I’m especially interested in the ‘Coherency’ bullet point, which is supposed to allow your Windows-based application windows to float amongst the OS X-based things running on your system.

So you can take the windows out of the OS, but not the OS out of the windows?

It’s great to finally be able to have just one copy of Wndows contaminating my computer.

Yeah, I think the real news here is that you can use the boot camp partition in Parallels. I’m looking forward to this so I can maintain one install of Windows that I can use from within OSX *AND* still boot natively when I want to run a 3D app or game.

Still, the Coherency feature is kinda cool.
