Apple, Mirosoft and other computer makers have been stupid when it comes to GPS. It is already a multi-billion dollar network that the US gov't (and its many taxpayers) have created and maintained. It is FREE to use anywhere on earth. By including some relatively simple (and cheap) hardware and software it would add a lot to our computer experience... slapping a bigger hard drive in an ipod is not innovation. Adding GPS would be!

The question is Google maps are great but will we have GPS. The rumors about Apple Macs getting GPS enabled have been known for a while. Also known is that iPhoto code has links to Google Maps. New Macs will have a GPS chip incorporated and the Mac OS X...

ASfter the year long hosing we got ftom Garmin on "Mac compatable" software I don't expect anyone other than AAPL to come to the rescue.

A GPS accessory adapter for the new iPod would be nice.

To be fair, maybe it’s more useful for the MacBook line, but I think there are uses for it in desktop systems as well - maybe make it an option for these models…? [...]
