Final Cut Studio 2Today, Apple announced two new Final Cut products.

First off is Final Cut Server which is priced at $999 for 10 users, $1999 for unlimited users. Apple says it is scalable and has workflow automation. It will be available this summer.

Apple also announced Final Cut Studio 2 which you can order today for $1299.  Upgrades are also available.  Upgrade from Final Cut Studio will cost you $499 or you can upgrade from Final Cut Pro or Production Suite for $699. New with Final Cut Pro is “ProRes 422.” The keynote slide says Apple ProRes 422 is the “[n]ext-gen post production format,” and it can produce “[u]ncompressed HD quality at SD file sizes,” plus “10-bit 4:2:2, full raster, VBR.”

This will probably drive sales of Mac Pros since some were waiting for this Final Cut refresh.
