Apple Stores Get Good AT&T Coverage
At some Apple stores, like the new one at Park Meadows in Lone Tree Colorado, it’s pretty much the rule that your AT&T - and probably most other carriers - phone will get no usable service coverage. That’s the case when I wander in with my Blackjack on a regular basis. But all of a sudden my coverage at the Park Meadows Apple Store is stellar! Let’s just thank the iPhone for that - afterall, how do you expect to sell and demo a cellular phone in a place that doesn’t get service coverage for said phone?
The Park Meadows location is my local Apple Store with [previously] awful cell reception - what’s yours? Have you seen the AT&T coverage improve yet?

#1 petrilli says:It’s highly likely that Apple and AT&T are working to deploy what are called “microcells” inside the Apple stores. These are very low-power, but they are often used to extend coverage to ill-served areas. It’s not uncommon for a mobile phone store to have one to make sure that your coverage is perfect when you’re looking at the phone.
When was the last time you were in a T-Mobile store that didn’t have full coverage? Verizon? Nextel? Sprint?

#2 Bob Smith says:I dumped AT&T (for MetroPCS) here in Tampa since they had many areas with poor or no coverage, maps showing coverage notwithstanding. There’s no way I buy an Apple phone until AT&T fixes the problem.

#3 BdeRWEST says:@#1: Plus, Apple is known for showing feature-complete products in their retail stores (before now, it’s been all Apple products — the only thing they’d need is Wi-Fi, and all the stores I’ve been to use an Airport Extreme).
I too am not surprised :-p

#4 Michael Bell says:ALL AT&T WIRELESS USERS IN DALLAS, TEXAS, ARE STILL EXPERIENCING A LEVEL 3 NETWORK OUTAGE THAT WAS FIRST REPORTED AT 5AM ON JUNE 30. THIS IS AFFECTING MY NOKIA 6230 HANDSET. WILL OTHER USERS PLEASE COMPLAIN TO AT&T SO THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TALKED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT AT&T (FROM A LAND LINE) AND THEY CONFIRM THE LEBVEL 3 NETWORK OUTAGE (VOICE SERVICE CONNECTIVITY). MY WIRELESS HANDSET WILL NOT CLEARLY CONNECT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE USING 611. WHEN I DO CONNECT, ALL I HEAR IS AN ECHO OF WHAT I SAY AND THE RECIPIENT HEARS BUZZING, POPPING, AND SOME GARBLED SPEACH. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. OVER 1 DAY WITH NO CELLULAR SERVICE AND COUNTING.

#5 Josh Pigford says:@Michael Bell: Seriously…all caps isn’t necessary.

#6 David Quinonez says:I recently switched over from verizon to at&t for the iphone. Im satisfied with the phone but fustrated with the coverege. I’ve called at&t muiltiple times and curently waiting for a rep to come and meet with me in my dead zone near my residence. what we need to do is keep calling ang leting them know how bad there sevice is. just make sure you dont loose your cool.

#7 Jeff pruett says:Live in Plano Tx WHO is part of the Dallas hub.
For months bad reception, dropped calls. Regardless of location. Spent hours on the phone- swapped phones three times- multitude of “technicians have guided me over the phone ‘tweaking the settings, telling me they were installing add ons in my specific area to improve service- sent me three times to their “corporate store (the agents there could care less)’replaced the sims cards..now the last call spoke to another technician who tells me that my experience is normal!
They said I could break my contract without penalty..this tells me that the problem is just as stated in these post…the problem is wide spread..
The thing that burns my #$% is all the time and money I have spent acting out like a slave to this problem…They know yet they string me out for three months and tie up their time and money on a problem which is not admitted..
My choice is to cancel and see if anyone else can deliver an acceptable service..If anyone has suggestions for Dallas would appreciate it.

#8 Special Sauce says:Of course it’s good in the store… PM is also pretty new so it took some time to get things rolling. How else do you think no other service but AT&T works inside a giant stainless steal box?

#9 Special Sauce says:PS, new toys there now too.
