The first 25 people who send an email to tab@ridethebandwagon.com will get the Bandwagon iTunes backup service free for an entire year (a savings of $24).

Bandwagon automatically keeps your entire iTunes collection (music, movies, television shows, games, etc) backed up using a number of storage facility options (S3, FTP, OmniDrive). It’s a fantastic service that is a must for anyone with a substantial collection.

NOTE: I apologize for not clarifying this, or if it wasn’t obvious to you on the Bandwagon site, but Bandwagon doesn’t offer the actual storage itself. They offer the application that helps you keep your iTunes backups synced to an external storage area (such as S3, FTP, etc).

I just want to clarify: we don’t provide the actual storage; we just provide the app service for you to use with your own online storage like S3, ftp, etc.

I use their service. It’s a BYOB. It uses either FTP to an account of your own to back it up, or an Amazon S3 account, which charges minimal monthly fees for backup.

Ah, then I guess Mozy.com is still the best bet, they provide storage as well as the app

It’s actually great for those with unused web hosting storage or already have a homegrown ftp server.

In regards to the Mozy.com comment…I honestly much prefer Amazon S3 or my own FTP solution over a relatively unknown service. Something about the “Amazon” name just makes me feel better.

My webhost is currently giving me just over 245GB’s of storage, so my nearly 80GB’s will easily fit.

Now, if I just had a fast upload speed, this would take a little less time. I’m currently on 5 of 11,439.

…I don’t know. It seems like anyone with enough web storage for their iTunes library wouldn’t need to pay for someone else to run the transfer. It’s not as if FTP is hard, y’know?

Dancer, FTP is not hard but for $2/month, you save oodles of time, get continuous and automatic backup and don’t have to select folders/files and do anything manual.

That’s worth saving hours per month of my time

Rom, I agree, I’m probably going to stop using Bandwagon after Leopard comes out. So far, I’m not all that impressed with Bandwagon. It’s locked up on me more than Windows ME did and I’m only 3,429 files into my 11,129 to FTP over. I’m using a local FTP server and my LAN to do the transfer, but it’s not going as fast as I would have hoped.

Once Time Machine is on my machine, I’ll be able to stop using a lot of software I am using not to backup various parts of my system.
