Best Practices: Protecting Your iPod/iPhone

Written on July 14, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 8 people have commented

ipod zune caseThis is too funny – and too clever – to pass on. If you’re an iPod owner, or more recently, an iPhone owner, then you’re likely aware of the high level of interest that thieves may have in getting their hands on your nifty Apple gadgets. So it’s probably a good idea to do your best to protect that investment.

So what better way to hide your iPod/iPhone in plain site than by sticking it inside a case that looks like Microsoft’s Zune? Clearly this should safeguard just about anything you wish to keep safe from would-be sticky fingers. I mean, who really wants a Zune???

Ok, so it’s just a silly joke…but we all know there’s truth behind every joke, right?

  • What’s a Zune?
Is it a phone? When was it released?

  • Woody Allen: “No joke is ever completely untrue”.

  • Genious! :D Me luvz! :D

I think those boys at Redmond are sure going to have a blast. :D

  • Doesn’t Apple’s iTunes activation process effectively serve a theft protection?

My iPhone’s serial number is tied to my account. If someone were to steal it (knock, knock), they’d have to activate themselves to use it. If I had reported it stolen, Applke would have the thief’s contact information, or at the very least, their billing information.

Am I way off base, here?

I mean it’s nowhere near as effective as disguising it a Zune, but still…
