Nothing much to endure when I got my 3G. The T-Mobile shop called back the day I asked them to reserve me one out of their next delivery, and that was during the shortage after the first glut.
Then ensued what some people would have had to endure but I enjoyed: a 20 k bike ride each way to fetch it from the shop. My time back was one of the best this year, I couldn't wait to try it out!

Well, i read a story about a guy who had his thumbs operated thinner, so that it would be easier typing on the iPhone..

Honza - It doesn't offend me, I just think it's a waste of one's time to criticize and say people are stupid for liking the products that they like. It's just an effort in futility.

I don't like Windows PC's but I don't troll around their forums blasting them for being "stupid," and I don't like some Apple products, but I don't go around in those posts here on TAB and call those people "stupid" either.

If you were speaking directly to the gentleman who got the snip, you should have addressed him in your post. As it stood, you insulted everyone who has posted a comment, and the author.

Brandon-
I apologize; I guess I missed this site turning into "The iPhone Blog." I love reading (and writing) about Apple tech as much, if not more, than anyone else, but I think that the iPhone mania has gone too far. I would be speaking just as critically of anyone who got a vasectomy to get a Macbook.

Raven - what's sadder, the fact that we love a product for it's simplicity, design and features or the fact that you feel compelled to come to a site about it and criticize us and it for being "stupid."

Do you not have a life?

Raven

The vascectemy thing is obviously overblown. Obviously the guy was going to get forced into it anyways, and just snagged a free iphone out of it.

I was reading something Mr. Ive said about technology, that might explain why some people think this thing is the second coming. He said, and a paraphrase here, "When your tools are broken, you feel broken. So when one of your tools is fixed, you feel more whole." or something like that.

I mean nothing derogatory towards those who want them, or who waited in line to get them, or who like them. But far too many people are taking it too far. A vasectomy is just too far to go for a piece of tech, however shiny.
I mean, I jokingly refer to my MBP as my child, but surgery to get it - no.

That is so deeply, totally stupid. It's a piece of techonology, people, a phone! It makes phone calls; it doesn't save the world or cure cancer. Great good lord, what a fool.

well, not so much "endure," but I did give up my Xbox 360 and my iBook for cash to buy the iPhone. That took a lot of endurance.

I waited in line for 12 hours at the Apple store in San Francisco, but it was worth it when all the employees ran around the block cheering... Plus Jonathan Ive was there!

Waited in line at my local AT&T store for an hour. Was 40th in line, and was told they only had 30. Drove one hour later to the nearest Apple Store, walked out with two 8GB iPhones that night.

I don't think it's that much, but I drove 1 1/2 hours to the Apple Store, stood in line for 10 hours and when I got my iPhone it wouldn't activate. I tried for 2 hours at the mall and gave up. It finally activated late that night (about 10 PM).

Still, I don't think it was that bad. I had fun hanging out and talking with everyone and if I had it to do over again, I would.

I guess this isn't really something you have to endure, but I know somebody who stood in line for 4 hours, only to have the guy right in front of him get the last iPhone.
