Apple releases first Leopard update

Apple is on a roll today, releasing a new version of Final Cut Express, as well as the last update to Tiger. Now, Apple has released its first update to their newest version of OS X, Leopard.
This update includes a slew of fixes mainly related to reliability and compatibility with the new features in Leopard and is now available in Software Update for download.
Let us know if you have any issues after the update is made or if this update fixes any issues you were having.

#2 Matt Radel says:I’m still having a dirt slow connection to shared drives on my local network, which I unfortunately depend upon for work.There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, as my boss who has the same MBP and configuration as me has no issues. He can browse files at least ten times faster.

#4 weisheng says:I got stuck in a bizarre Setup Assistant loop when I restarted after installing the update. Setup Assistant would keep restarting no matter how many times I filled out my info. Got kind of pissed at Apple for releasing a buggy update since reinstalling would have wasted most of my evening.
Thankfully, I found a solution online. If any of you experience this problem, start the computer in Safe Mode by holding on to the Shift key when booting up. It takes some time so be patient. When you get to the login screen, don’t log in. Hit the Back button then the Restart button and your Mac will reinstall the update properly before restarting.

Does that mean time machine will work with a share that isn’t HFS+? So I can back up to a linux box now?
#6 Goobimama says:I dont think Time Machine will work with anything other than HFS+ cause of the way it maintains hard links and soft links and such. It’s too advanced for NTFS…

#8 AJ says:I’m also stuck in the setup assiatant loop. I have tried the safe restart trick but I do not see a back button which can be hit?! Any suggestions?

#10 Tony @ themacspace.com says:Upgrading to leopard can be expensive! Make sure if you have Final Cut Studio you are aware you may have to pay $800 for compatibility with Leopard!
