I hope there will be a software update that will make the every trackpad into a multi finger pad... and not a Macbook Air feature only, until the next Macbook and Macbook Pro design update

Try sidetrack. It'll enable any additional trackpad features.

*Eddie
This option have been added to Intel laptops from day 1. To 2005 and up Powerbooks and iBooks, this option is only available with Leopard installed.

I was really happy to discover it on my 2005 PB 12" after I installed 10.5.

I'm saying 2005, because its not available to pre rwo-fingers-scroll trackpads

Stephanie - I already checked my iBook's System Preferences and that option is not there. So now I'm even more baffled, because my iBook is not even three years old yet. It was the final G4 model, released in late July 2005. Oh, and I'm running 10.4.11. Is Leopard the differentiating factor?

@Eddie - I just checked on my coworker's three-year-old iBook, and the option is in fact there. Go to System Prefs>Keyboard & Mouse> Trackpad, and check the 'tap two fingers for secondary click' option.

Interesting article - not being at the expo there is a little bit of disappointment from the expectation. After 2007 though, there has to be some 'come down'. Although with less immediate excitement, I think it will have a good long term effect on Apple... I do think the Apple TV is the best solution possible and could really catch on - content is always the key and they've scored big time on this and the other thing is ease of use which they have sown up too.

Don't know how long this features is on apple's notebook but in my first-generation macbook pro i had to activate it from the trackpad options as it's not active by default.
To be sincere, I dont' think it's available on the iBook...anyway try to check the options.

Thanks for the heads-up about the two finger right-click existing pre-Air. The staffer showed it off to me as a new feature specific to that model. Can anyone define the "long time" that this has been possible? For instance, my still-in-warranty iBook has a trackpad with two finger scrolling capabilities, but not the two finger right-click functionality.

Just a small point, the two finger right-click has been on Apple laptops for years. I've just done it on my Macbook.
