Apple releases 10.5.2

Apple has just released 10.5.2 via Software Update.
There are a slew of changes/fixes, some of which are:
- Improved Airport connection reliability and stability
- Improved Dashboard widget performance
- Updated Stacks with a List view option, a Folder view option, and an updated background for Grid view
- Ability to turn off transparency of menu bar
- Reduction in overall menu transparency
- Adds a menu bar option for accessing Time Machine features
The big one that most people will be excited about is the ability to turn off transparency in the menu bar.
Post in the comments if you have any issues with this upgrade.

Well it is not all happy days after i Updatede to 10.5.2, now my Caps Lock and Num Lock bottoms are broken. By broken I mean that when they are deactived the light is on and when I turn off the light well then the bottoms are activated. Does anyone else got this error ? and if so … anyone know how to fix it ?? ;-)

The Mail.app SMTP bug still exists, despite Apple addressing the issue.

It looks like network drives can be used for Time Machine backups now. Is this new, or am I missing something?

So far no issues. Good to have a solid menu bar again.
@Ocellnurl Glad to hear that network drives are working for Time Machine, that confirms the thought most had that this would be resolved.

All updates loaded. No ill effects. Am digging the normal menubar again. Going to try EVE with the graphics update loaded.

PathFinder 4.8.3 (414) crashes repeatedly on 10.5.2 on my MBP.

On my iBook G4, I don’t have the option to turn the transparency off, only on my iMac. Is this an intel specific feature? Anyone else with Power PC notice this?

Some MacFUSE-related software is not looking so good after 10.5.2 update. Intermittent success getting stuff to show in /Volumes and ExpanDrive just seems to churn with no positive outcome.

@Steve, I didn’t know the G4 machines supported transparency, I know my G4 mini doesn’t. Anyway, isn’t it something to do with QE, rather than the CPU you’re using?

Unfortunately it didn’t fix the wireless problem where the connection suddenly drops when running a MBP off battery. Botheration.

I have the same problem with the caps lock and numlock leds (they are on when the lock is DEACTIVATED)

It is easily fixed with a couple of reboots. I did some digging online and it looks like it is not a error that is coursed by this update but and “old” Mac OS 10.5 error :oS – I rebooted once and then the problem where gone

DISASTER! I elected to install the update last night. After the obligatory dialog asking me to restart, the computer hung. For a long time. Thinking it was safer to let it go, I left it run. When my computer finally rebooted, I was presented with a login window. Logging in, I was presented with the registration wizard as if I had a fresh install. No matter how many times I fill out the forms, I cannot successfully log in.
Booting from my Leopard install DVD, I can see my files are still there, so I’m copying them to an external drive and going to do a clean install.
For the record, I do have backups, so I’m not worried about losing data. Worst update ever, IMHO.

After speaking with Apple Support (great people, btw), apparently for any update that gets interrupted, you can do a ‘Safe Boot’ and get the update to install again by doing the following:
1) Shut down the machine.
2) Press the Power button and start holding the shift key.
3) When you get the login screen, reboot the machine again.
4) Updates should now be applied which were interrupted.
