The memory upgrade (2X1GB) for my core duo mac book pro comes around $50 when i search in crucial scanner, but even as of today (april 28th 2008) apple website says a price of $200 for a 2X1GB upgrade. Why is this large price difference ? Are these memory sticks suggested by crucial fully compatible with mac systems ?

@Ross true. that makes the utility kinda a “non-utility”, tho. i plan on seeing what i can whittle the system_profiler xml output down to and still get a good result from their site.

Little Snitch is worth a mention here - it’ll stop the file from being sent back to crucial w/ all your system info.

I checked their site the other day, and 2GB of RAM for my Core Duo MacBook is less than $50. I paid $250 for my two 1GB sticks in late 2006. Aaargh!
