Written on June 25, 2008 by Jenny Kortina and 16 people have commented

With the release of Firefox 3, I thought I would share my top ten Firefox shortcuts. So without further ado, here they are:

  1. ⌘ + l = focus address bar
  2. ⌘ + d = bookmark current page
  3. ⌘ + k = focus google search bar
  4. ⌘ + f = find
  5. ⌘ + g = find next
  6. ⌘ + t = new tab
  7. ⌘ + w = close current tab
  8. ⌘ + shift + t = reopen accidentally closed tab (Best one ever!)
  9. crtl + tab = tab through tabs
  10. crtl + shift + tab = tab backwards through tabs

Bonus for Delicious Extension users:

⌘ + Shift + . = pulls delicious page if you have delicious firefox extension installed

Be sure to checkout our Browser Shortcut Cheat Sheet for a comprehensive listing of shortcuts for both Firefox and Safari.

How could you forget apple+1-8 to switch between tabs!? So much handier than ctrl+tab/ctrl+shift+tab.

  2. #2 Josh Pigford says:

Let’s not get started on the “HOW COULD YOU FORGET XYZ! IT’S THE GREATEST THING EVER THIS LIST IS STUPID!” comments.

This is a list of Jenny’s top 10 firefox shortcuts…not the world’s top 10 firefox shortcuts.

  3. #3 Nathaniel says:

Awesome, I didn’t know there was a shortcut for reopening the last closed tab!

  4. #4 macFanDave says:

    Josh,

I tried XYZ and nothing happened. Am I supposed to press them all at once or X, then Y, then Z?

    TIA

  5. #5 Josh Pigford says:

@macFanDave: Were you yodeling when you pressed them? If not…there’s your problem.

  6. #6 macFanDave says:

    Thanks, Josh, that was AMAZING!

I can’t describe what happened — you just have to see it for yourself.

I don’t know how I lived without that feature. I found the key to be that you can’t be shy when you are yodeling — you really have to belt it out!

Don’t worry about your co-workers or family staring at you, it’s worth it!

  7. #7 Kiavik says:

I have a faster shortcut for the first one: F6 (at least in Windows) focuses the address bar. Try it and see if it works in OSX too

  8. #8 paresh says:

    so so

  9. #9 lailai says:

    What about WINDOWS?

  10. #10 Alex says:

Also, if you hit alt+f4 on a windows machine you get instant downloads.

  11. #11 alex is retarded says:

alex, anyone who knows anything will know that alt+f4 is close the active
    window

  12. #12 johnobrow says:

whaddaya mean “what about windows”? - it’s theappleblog.com
    HELLO!
    Very useful list

  13. #13 ELBSeattle says:

Am I the only one who felt a delicious smug shiver in response to the ‘what about Windows’ whinge?

I, for one, am glad that the computing world does not (always) revolve around Windows.

  14. #14 tom says:

Stay away from Mozilla. They are highly unprofessional. Their solution for everything is to insult and ban you.

I asked for support on their forums. I got this:
