"Much of the concern over DRM systems has arisen in European countries. Perhaps those unhappy with the current situation should redirect their energies towards persuading the music companies to sell their music DRM-free."
Well, Steve, do you complain to NVIDIA when there's something wrong with your Mac or do you complain to Apple? Of course you complain to the people that are selling YOU whatever you buy, not the company that made it.
I know he probably wouldn't have to complain anyway, but just as an example.

Tom's right - back when Norway first raised the subject, there was leeway to argue over Apple licensing FairPlay - but since then the Big 4's DRM-free offerings to Amazon etc and NOT iTunes seems to signify that Apple has a get-out-of-jail card with Norway now. Nice to see you here Tom.

Runar,

Your English is fine, and thanks for the comment.

Understand that my article is not critical of Norway's laws so much as the assumption that this particular issue is Apple's to fix. Apple's FairPlay is there at the behest of the labels, who meanwhile have licensed their wares to other online stores without any DRM requirement. It seems to me Norway should go after the labels.

I'm from Norway and part of the problem is the international sale of music vs. the laws in Norway.
I'm no expert and are impressed with the Tom's recount of the situation.
I only want to add that I think the consumer rights law is a good law because it lowers prices when the market could be monpolized.

Just my 2 cents
(sorry for the bad english)

I asked 10 questions to underline the absurdity of Norway's position in:

Daily question: No lutefisk for iTunes in Norway?

Apple should withdrawn from the Norwegian marketplace at least with regard to iTunes. I can't imagine it will be huge revenue loss for Apple.
