Great app… Odd icon though… If your like me you’ll want to change it out… IconFactory has various Mac system logos for Mac Pro, Mini, Mac Book, etc… Just find the icon you like… Use finder to locate HardwareGrowler using ‘Get Info’ and select the icon in the top left of the box… Then copy the icon you’ve chosen (in my case I chose a Mac Pro with the side removed) then paste it over the HardwareGrowler icon in the Get Info window… Your done… Most hide it all together, this works too… I prefer to have control over it, just wasn’t liking the icon… Steve

I have been using HardwareGrowler for a long time now but I just recently did a fresh install of OS X and couldn’t for the life of me remember how to remove the for the app.

+2 for writing this up and having the code with it.

One of arguments for a choosing a Mac is that OS X does not disturb you all the time. And now you want to add the annoying Microsoft Window Notification? I don’t get it. I know when I’ve plunged/unplugged a device, I for sure don’t need my OS to notify me.

To be fair I can see some use for the airport notification.

I guess it all comes down to an individual opinion of what is “need-to-know”.

Cool! This makes Growl a lot more useful — I had no idea it was in there. It’s like those little windows dialogue bubbles, but less obnoxious.
