I think I should be getting an iPhone, I'm pretty impress with the stuff I've been reading about iPhone Apps. Look like a lot really is benefiting from all the available app for iPhone.

Most of the Social Networking apps seem to be tied to either Twitter or FaceBook. Any thoughts on which other social networking ideas have succeeded?

Some great posts and info here. I've just spent the last week (and a few quid!) on finding a decent Twitter iPhone client. I've actually enjoyed using them all and I've kept a few on my home screen permanently.

TWITTERFON PRO is the one I keep going back to, my favourite. Lovely to use with the ability to have a different look for multiple accounts. Better than Tweetie in my opinion.
TWITTERIFFIC is great amongst the freebies. Don't get the Pro version though. Not worth the money.
TWEETDECK is pretty good too. I'm now using this solely to keep check on trends and certain hashtags.
TWITTELATOR PRO is laden with facilities to the point where it becomes confusing sadly. Writing tweets however is a joy, and the ability to save them as a draft is a great facility.

I tried loads more but these 4 were the ones I kept going back to and will keep. Tweetie, Simply Tweet, and Tweet Time were okay but nothing special. Twitterena has a great 'add to facebook' button but is let down by a clunky interface. One app I also like is DUO. It's VERY quick at sending a quick tweet as well as updating your facebook status too AND it's free!

[...] Twitter There is no quicker way to get news out of something happening other than Twitter – by default it is one of the most important developments in citizen journalism. By default, because who would have thought a site that asked simply “What are you doing” and limited it to 140 characters would become one of the most powerful news “networks” we have ever seen. I use Tweetie, but as far as I can tell there is no reason why Tweetdeck or any other of the myriad of iPhone apps for Twitter wouldn’t do as good a job. The power of Twitter has more to do with its real-time news reporting abilities than people’s preference for an app. But if you can think of a reason one Twitter app would be better over another for the purposes of citizen journalism let me know in the comments.
TwitterFon was better before the aggressive, intrusive ads. I've avoided the pay version for this reason alone. Twitteriffic is an excellent app.

I normally use the mobile web when I tweet but I also have twitterfon just in case i want to delete my previous tweet or I feel like looking at my friends timeline. I like the way that twitterfon doesn't have too many features and that it's very basic which is what I'm comfortable with plus it's free which is definitely a bonus!

@New Twitter user

I use Landscape Twitting! to update my FB status. When sending you select the icon for only twitter or twitter and FB.

That was very important for me, but the most important was fast 2 finger writing. Twitts are short and fast messages so I can´t do that with only one finger over little keys. And the same for fast reply, direct message, rt or groups. All can be done from a fantastic full screen view. Also this app gives you in app web browsing so you don´t need to leave it each time that you receive a link. I don´t need a "ton of features" but these are esential for me. It sent pictures also and, of course, you can take in app pictures to include it. I don´t know if Landscape Twitting! is very new and that´s the reason to not be included here, is a surprise to me. Worth to check it out-
