Well, QS can do all these things with the hit of a few buttons: command-Esc (if you set it up correctly) to select current object, then you can manipulate the object, to zip it, email it, and do all kinds of things with it. Granted this app seems more to the point in its fuctionality, QS is sorta like an advanced version of this that may require more tinkering and getting used to.

"I’ll be the first to admit, much like Quicksilver or Spaces, once you get used to integrating this app, it really does save you time."

I have yet to find any suitable use for Quicksilver, despite having it installed for long. Checking out the guide that you guys have made.

And Spaces is a time-waste for my workflow. Exposé is one thing I cannot live without though.

If you say a mac really shines through its brilliant software, I agree, but I still don't think "dropzone" should be necessary. On a pc you can just right click a file and choose "open-with". The mac has this option too, but you get a convoluted and messed up menu. It shows old software that you don't have anymore and it doesn't show the software you want. (for example, I can't get Firefox to show up in the "open-with" menu, no matter what I try).
I guess I'll need to give dropzone a spin then :-)

I used to do this kind of stuff with QS (with triggers, current selection proxy object, etc.)... but I'm progressively ditching it in favor of QSB, which doesn't have triggers yet :/

I do hope, however that QSB will soon be up to this kind of task.

I was one of the beta testers. It is a very useful application and does the whole "native" (ie. stacks) thing very well.

One tip is adding applications you don't use often into the DropZone grid. This way you can drop stuff onto them, but they don't clog up your dock.

I am a huge fan of Skitch. One problem with skitch is that it does not allow you to drop from Firefox. The dropzone author told me this is acually a Firefox bug, but he implemented a work-around. So I added Skitch to DropZone and how have firefox -> dropzone -> skitch dropping.

I am the author of the ImageShack dropzone script ( http://aptonic.com/extend.php ), which in my opinion is the easiest way to upload an image to ImageShack.
