Written on February 16, 2005 by Twist and No one has commented

The Mac mini is everybodies favorite HTPC to be these days with numerous projects working on software for it. Well now someone has tossed together a great looking docking station concept for it. This is really cool but they missed a few things. Like A/V capture solutions, and a Firewire port or two on the [...]

Mac mini: Mind Stealer

Written on February 10, 2005 by Twist and No one has commented

I am not sure which is worse; the Mac mini Bodysnatcher I mentioned last month or the new Mac mini Mind Stealer that was mentioned on Slashdot yesterday. At least this newest one still runs Mac OS X. If I can get the Bodysnatchers to send me the Mac mini internals and these people to [...]

Vintage Apple: Take 2

Looks like some more classic Apple media has surfaced over here. It was mentioned by Slashdot, so slashdotting is in effect… Plan your download times accordingly.
(I imagine the it’s only a matter of time before sites start getting “TABbed” like crazy… ;))

Mac mini: Bodysnatcher

Some evil x86 geek has taken our beloved Mac mini and desecrated it by putting a Nano-ITX form factor motherboard in it. Poor Mac mini. Please send me the original components so that I may give them a good home ;)

Powerbook Theme Song!

Jonothan Coulton is the geek acoustic musician. “A Laptop Like You” is his ode to his Powerbook. While you’re at his site, pick up “Smoking Monkey” from the iTMS. Ya know, help a starving artist out.

apple_g5_powerbook

Written on January 27, 2005 by Nick Santilli and 3 people have commented

In a story run by both The Register and Gizmodo, Apple apparently had a snippet of HTML that included the reference to “apple_g5_powerbook” on it’s powerbook page.

It’s gone from Apple’s site now (The Register reports it being gone within an hour of their finding it). The code referenced a 1 by 1 pixel place-holder [...]

Apple de Luxe

Written on January 26, 2005 by Adam and 4 people have commented

Oftentimes Apple has been referred to as the BMW of the computer world – high quality, stylish, and expensive. And for anyone that’s ever unpacked an Apple product, dealt with Apple technical support, or even visited an Apple retail store, it’s blatantly obvious that Apple wants you to feel like it’s products are worth every [...]

Happy Birthday Macintosh!!

Written on January 24, 2005 by Dan Lurie and 2 people have commented

21 years ago today, Apple introduced Macintosh to the world. Its been a great 21 years. (never-mind that I have only been around for 16 of them). A video has surfaced, kept on beta-max for 21 years. Restored and released to the public for the first time, it shows a spritley young Jobs presenting Mac [...]

Apple Takes Care of It’s Fans

Merlin Mann has a terrific weblog called 43Folders that’s GTD (Getting Things Done) centric, but also heavily favoring Apple’s OS X. There are non-Apple readers of the site, but mostly things revolve around Macs. Great reading when you’re through with TheAppleBlog. ;)
Anyway, like many groups, Merlin made the effort to round up [...]

Mac Love

PC users like PCs. They enjoy using them, building them, tweaking them. Some may even develop a special liking for a certain machine. Mac users on the other hand, love Macs. We feel a connection to every peice of hardware and software. It speaks to us, becomes a part of us. Our own machines become [...]

I now present, for your reading delight, The Blog of Steve Jobs. It seems that he and I share some similar opinions about communism and the head of M$.
EDIT: At the very bottom, it says, “a parody”. But I’m not sure…wouldn’t Steve have sued them by now?

Jobs vs. Gates

Written on January 12, 2005 by Dan Lurie and 22 people have commented

In the past week or so, we have seen keynote speeches from both Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs, and Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Gates’s CES keynote was filled with negative comments, including his comparison of “free culture” advocates to communists. Job’s speech, on the other hand, brought nothing but joy and happy-happy feelings into the [...]

iPod Shuffle Hysteria

Written on January 12, 2005 by Nick Santilli and No one has commented

Wired’s got a cool article about the insanity the iPod Shuffle caused at the conclusion of Steve’s Keynote yesterday.
…at the close of his Macworld keynote address at Moscone Center, Apple CEO Steve Jobs had said he’d “heard a rumor” that the iPod shuffle was available at the nearby Apple Store, two blocks north.
Quick and fun [...]

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Written on January 12, 2005 by Nick Santilli and 11 people have commented

Can you tell me what’s wrong with this picture?
Ok, maybe it’s just my interpretation of this Ad image. But what is the girl looking at? There’s no screen on the iPod Shuffle. Plus, with only 5 buttons (which come in a very common configuration) I don’t think it’s necessary [...]

Our Duty as Apple Evangalists

Now that Steve has ushered-in this new era for Apple in the form of the Mac Mini, those of us who already know/love/use Apple computers have a duty to fulfill.
So many people will be flocking to this new low-priced Apple, to try it out for the first time. So many people have wanted to [...]

Paging Dr. Freud

The Guardian has a great article about the mind-set of a Mac-head. It discusses how the novelty of being a select few will soon wear off as Apple moves farther into the main stream.
