Your Favorite Rumors

Written on February 19, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 7 people have commented

I don’t typically like reporting on all the rumors that abound. So much of it is just fluff created for buzz that it’s borderline annoying. But my inner-geek always likes to hope… So what’s your favorite rumor of late? The most recent that sound interesting to me are “MacBook Mini” notebooks, [...]

How many Apple stickers do you have?

Written on February 12, 2007 by Eddie Hargreaves and 91 people have commented

For decades, Apple has included two Apple logo stickers with its hardware and software packages, giving customers a way to publicly display their love or appreciation of Apple products. But even Apple fanatics only have so much car exterior to plaster, leaving most of these stickers unused.
Apple computers originally came with the rainbow-colored logo [...]

“Hello, I’m a Bill Gates”

Written on February 05, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 9 people have commented

The Joy of Tech brings us yet another great commentary on the world that surrounds us. And by ‘us’, I of course mean computer geeks. And by computer geeks, I mean those of us who follow the silliness that has abounded lately with the release of Vista and the subsequent media blitz [...]

Vista Excitement…

Written on January 30, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 5 people have commented

This is what I was alluding to in yesterday’s post.
People showing up for deals on other stuff – and checking out Macs! – rather than lined up to buy Vista. Even a comparison (with photo) of the Tiger launch a couple years back.

On Vista Eve

Written on January 29, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 7 people have commented

The Midnight Release “Parties” are being plugged everywhere I look (or listen), for Microsoft’s Vista release on January 30th (tomorrow). It makes me long for the chance to go wait in line at the local Apple store for Leopard’s release – now that’s a party, and one that isn’t hyped much at all, at [...]

Some Background on Apple’s Multi-Touch Tech

Written on January 17, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 7 people have commented

I’m still happy that the iPhone sports multi-touch technology. If for nothing else, that’s a huge reason I want to get my hands on (even, all over) an iPhone in June. The way Tom Cruise manages that futuristic computer in Minority Report gets me every single time I watch the movie – and [...]

Macworld Roundup, Day Four

Written on January 13, 2007 by Julian Bennett Holmes and No one has commented

My fourth day on the Macworld show floor was really interesting. I got some answers that I was definitely looking for.
First off, I went to the AppZapper / Disco booth, to find out why people couldn’t see Disco’s smoke without burning a disc by launching the app while holding the shift key.
It turns out that [...]

Macworld Roundup, Day Three

Written on January 11, 2007 by Julian Bennett Holmes and 9 people have commented

Day three was good, but, I must say, not quite as interesting as day two.
I talked to an Apple representative who was standing near the iPhone that was on display, and I asked a couple of quesitons. She confirmed that the iPhone’s battery is not removable. When I asked her if third-party developers would be [...]

Macworld Roundup, Day Two

Written on January 10, 2007 by Julian Bennett Holmes and 3 people have commented

Day One of Macworld was cool for the Keynote, but I didn’t see anything cool on the show floor, and I didn’t attend any conferences.
Day Two, however, was much cooler.
The only presentation I saw was a bit of the Macworld Best in Show (some representative from Adobe talking up the CS3 beta), but I got [...]

Macworld ‘07 Predictions from The Apple Blog

Written on January 05, 2007 by Richard Neal and 16 people have commented

With Macworld ‘07 only a few days away and rumor sites incessantly churning out rumor after rumor, the last thing you probably want is a bunch of Mac geeks giving their completely uninformed opinions on what will transpire in the keynote. If that’s the case, we’ll see you on Tuesday when you can get the [...]

Insider Scoop! Don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled!

Written on January 05, 2007 by Todd Baur and 7 people have commented

Today I received a letter in the mail from a writer claimed to work at an Apple affiliate. In the letter he stated some very good scoop and encourage me to write about it here on TAB. So without further anticipation, I intend on spilling the beans on Tuesday’s announcements.
Before I do, I want to [...]

Playing Keynote Bingo

Written on January 05, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 3 people have commented

I seem to remember this game originating maybe as far back as a couple years ago, though I apologize for not remembering who’s brainchild it was. But what for the past few Keynotes has been only a printable (usually pdf) version, has been coded and made available as a little app for OS X.
Maybe [...]

iPodDS

Written on January 05, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 4 people have commented

This is pretty sweet for all you home brew fans out there. This guy made his Nintendo DS function like an iPod, using the lower (touch) screen as the click wheel. Not overly useful – unless you have a DS and not an iPod – but pretty cool anyway.
My Son’s got a DS, [...]

Just For Fun: Once You Go Mac

Written on January 05, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 3 people have commented

The title that I gave the announcement (yesterday) about Adobe bringing Premiere back to the OS X platform reminded me of this video I saw one time. I apologize, but I can’t recall where I found it. So if you’re that person, or know where I can point credit, please let me know. [...]

Best Marketer of All Time

Written on January 04, 2007 by Nick Santilli and No one has commented

Since it’s not yet a category to which an award is given, Apple will have to settle for “Marketer of The Year” for 2006.
I know this isn’t new news, but I thought The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs was worth a mention. A wonderful window into the inner workings of Steve? Probably not. [...]

Two Hours of Magic

Written on January 02, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 11 people have commented

An eagle-eyed Digg’er points out that the Keynote at next week’s MacWorld Expo will be 2 hours long. Typically it runs a little more than an hour, but not this year kids. We get a solid 120 minutes of his Steveness telling us about all the tech and hardware we didn’t [...]

It’s Looking To Be A Happy New Year

Written on January 02, 2007 by Nick Santilli and 9 people have commented

Well, the new year – and another work week – has begun.
I trust everyone had a fun and safe series of holidays, but it’s time to get back to business. There’s a whole new year ahead, and that of course means plenty of new resolutions, ups, downs, crazy Apple Rumors, and the MacWorld Expo!! [...]

Vista Will Be An IT Nightmare

Written on December 14, 2006 by Julian Bennett Holmes and 19 people have commented

Well, Microsoft has said it themselves, Windows Vista (due out in about a month) will be a huge nightmare to support.
On the official Vista development blog, Microsoft claims a study, conducted by IDC and commissioned by Microsoft, found that Vista will create 100,000 new jobs in IT, and that for every $1 Microsoft makes from [...]

MacHeist Hits $50k Mark

Written on December 14, 2006 by Josh Pigford and 13 people have commented

Phill Ryu’s MacHeist has just hit the $50k mark for charity which means all of the nearly 5,000 people who have purchased the software bundle so far will now be getting a NewsFire license.
If MacHeist users purchase enough to raise $100k for charity (25% of all purchases are donated) then all of the users will [...]

Macs in the Business World

Written on December 12, 2006 by Nick Santilli and 5 people have commented

Here’s another one. Apparently riled some HP execs in a meeting on Wall Street. Nice. “That notebook you’ve got there is a challenge to us.” Guess the friendly days of HP selling iPods are long passed.
I’ve been tracking the growing popularity of Macs in the Business World, here and here.
