Noise reduction headphones: Block out everything but the music.

Written on January 17, 2005 by Rich Trouton and 4 people have commented

While at MacWorld Expo, my fiancee’s goal was to find a good set of noise reduction headphones for her iPod Mini. She rides the Washington Metro to work every day and it’s a fairly noisy environment, where she found herself constantly raising and lowering the volume of the music. She wanted headphones where she could [...]

Apple In Ear Headphones

Written on January 16, 2005 by Josh Pigford and 4 people have commented

A quick note on Apple’s In Ear Headphones, many people have bought them and quickly came to the conclusion that they were horrifically bad.
However, the secret is that you just have to shove these things right IN your ears (not too far, I’m not trying to cause any injuries here). Once the malleable plastic is [...]

We all know about VoIP and how it’s going to be the next big thing, but one of the big issues is interface and cooperating with the existing analogue and digital ‘Plain Old Telephone Service’ (POTS).

Ok, it seems that you all have a lot to say about iEmulator. But, since we are all busy, Im just going to sum up all of your comments. Most of the feedback Ive received is saying that while the 30 dollar price point is great, the software its self is only worth about that. [...]

iPod Killer?

Written on December 11, 2004 by Chris Holland and 3 people have commented

Christmas season is upon us and online magazines have been musing about an “iPod Killer”.
Here’s why I believe these “other guys” are looking at a sizable challenge:
iPod has struck the ultimate balance of features, portability, usability and outstanding design. The “other guys” are trying hard to match this balance, but inevitably run into the next [...]

iEmulator

Written on December 10, 2004 by Dan Lurie and 13 people have commented

It seems that there is a new Windoze emulator out for Mac. iEmulator claims to be just as fast as Virtual PC, but are more realistic in their approach.
The G4 numbers are lower than what another commercial emulator is telling me; it says my emulated PC is running at over 1 GHz!
The numbers we quote [...]

SMB Manager for Network Servers on OS X

Written on December 06, 2004 by Nick Santilli and 2 people have commented

If you’ve got a lot (1 or more) servers that you connect to from your OS X machine, you’ve probably been frustrated that it’s not simpler to keep that server or servers saved for the next time you need them. Sure, the Finder will save the list of servers you’ve recently connected to, but [...]

Share your iPod

With the XtremeMac audio splitter, you can easily share your music with a friend. The XtremeMac audio splitter does pretty much what you would expect, it splits the audio and sends it to two jacks. Never get stuck sharing only one headphone with a friend again.

Here’s a nifty little shareware program that’s perfect for storing all your usernames and passwords. It’s called PasswordWallet.
