For a long time I have been a fan of the Dell and Samsung displays, and when I had an Apple Cinema Display I really liked that also. A friend of mine however is in the market for some displays for his company and asked my advice, all ready to give my opinion I drew breath, but then he flummoxed me.
"They need to work portrait, that's the whole point".
Currently the company is using Windows PC's, but we both hope they will be in a position to switch to the Mac soon. DVI or VGA, response time and the like doesn't really matter as they are for the office, however there are some stipulations. The displays need to be clean and tidy, small bezels, almost certainly need to be black with crisp glossy displays. We are looking at 19-24" widescreen displays only, nothing smaller and anything larger would not be necessary or realistic for the space either. Of course, they need to be rotatable on their standard stands to be portrait for work online and with large spreadsheets and the like.
Obviously if something crops up at MacWorld it could all change, but I am guessing that even if new ACD's are announced they won't match these criteria. Cost is obviously an issue, but it would be possible to spend ACD type money if necessary.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I am looking into it but display manufacturer websites are far less than user friendly.
