Interesting link Matt. I'm somewhat inclined to agree, but I still believe that (as the article suggest in the last paragraph) Apple are still getting a fee from AT&T, O2 etc… Otherwise there would be no benefit for them to partner with a carrier and lose revenue from the contracts, they'd just sell the device for use on any network.
