@djelder - John Gruber posted an interesting (albeit obvious) remark to a comment just like this:

You can bet that iPhone 2.0, probably available within the next year, will be faster and have more storage – probably for the same price.

This is, of course, true: the original iPhone will probably be the worst iPhone Apple ever makes. However, there is no end to this logic. By the time iPhone 2.0 is available, you can wait another year for iPhone 3.0.

To me, the most tempting reason to wait isn’t the next-gen iPhone, but to see if the next-gen iPod is like an iPhone without the phone (and, thus, contract)
I guess it's just like buying a Mac - if you need it (or desperately want it) now, then buy it now. But don't get caught up in the never-ending cycle of waiting for the next revision.

You guys are right, I am close to needing...But part of me tells me I should wait just a little, bit... I don't know what to do. I know I will get it, but, ah well. I could pay $15,000 for one on EBAY

People have bid it up to almost $20K. Are they nuts? Who can throw $19,000 down the drain?!?

It's actually a joke now. At time of checking (10:48 PM, EST), the bid is up to $20, 000, 100.00. $20 million. No one is that desperate for an iPhone!

I have purchased an iPhone, but I don't need AT&T service.
