I am new but had to join after reading some posts on here about cases.I have friend a Maclife Magazine and they are doing a story about a sleeve that is the best sleeve for the Macbook Air and she turned me on to it. It is the Interofficemac notebook sleeve for the Macbook Air. The web site is InterOffice Mac - MacBook and MacBook Air Accessories and they are not as well known as Belkin but they went to Maclife in S.F and they gave the editors a sleeve and they loved it and now they are doing a full spread on it and a friend of mine that I do not want to say her name so she does not get in trouble if I was not supposed to use Maclifes name on these boards. But I received mine and it fits perfect ! They have a sample size they gave them for the Macbook also that I hear is great also. There is a ton of padding and it has a zipper and that was the deal sealer for me. The stitching and the hand made look of the buttons is great. I ordered one of the other sleeves for the air but they are thin and would not protect your Air form anything. It feels like real leather. Just check it out it is way worth it and has to be the best sleeve I have seen unless you are willing to pay $200.00 for a Vaja. I would like to know if anyone else knows if there is a portable power cord with a cigarette adapter for the Air ? Apples only works for the Air with a Airplane seat and says it will not work with a car lighter for power. Thanks and I am really liking these boards it seems as if everyone is nicer than the people at Macrumors. Thanks again for any help with the power adapter

Welcome to the TAB forums, rumorman93! Hope you enjoy your stay!

First of all, that's a really fantastic looking case. And even if it's a "copy" of the plain manilla envelopes, it's still something that most people wouldn't even think of. I like it

As for the power adapter, I would have originally said you were out of luck. Fortunately, a little bit of Googling actually came up with a result that would be perfect for you. One company, called MCT, Inc. makes Magsafe grafts for other power adapters, such as this Kensington unit. This works in cars as well as planes, so your travel needs are solved. Unfortunately, all of this stuff is very expensive (over $100).

I believe all of this stuff will work with the MBA, but I'm not 100% sure. If someone else with a MBA (Matt ) can just confirm that the magsafe adapters are the same, it should be fine.

Hope this helps!

The MacBook Air power adapter is different to that of the MacBook and MacBook Pro. It's much slimmer and while the connector is the same you can't really mix them. Any MagSafe will fit and work in the MBA, however the second you put it on a desk it will push out because it's too big if it didn't come with the MBA.

If you are looking for a car solution then I'd suggest the watching Tekzilla episode 25 for good information.

Here's the link that they give in the Tekzilla episode on how to build your own. The actual video segment in the show starts at around 25 minutes, so you can skip ahead!

Alternatively, just get a AC/DC adapter for your car and plug the Air's AC adapter in to that. I know it's not elegant, but you can get them everywhere.

Well, my experience with InterofficeMac has been very different. If you are going to buy from Interofficemac, then please read my post on the Apple support discussion forum about their product: Apple - Support - Discussions - How are you carrying the Air around? ...

Could you copy and paste the important part into this forum? There's a lot of other unrelated discussion that it would be nice to skip past.

Here is the entire post. It is a rant, but I think I should inform people about my experiences with this supplier. The Interofficemac sleeve also fits a normal Macbook. Lesson learned: Never trust a site which doesn't publish the exact dimensions of its laptop sleevs.

On the other hand. the Aussiebag sleeve I bought from Australia is really snug and has seen daily use for 6 months with no sign of wear or tear. So here goes:

"You may want to reconsider the Interoffice Macsleeve. The size is too bulky for the MacBook Air as compared to other sleeves on the market. Also the seller, Sean Diller, has not refunded my purchase, as he promised, since March 2008! Here is the correspondence I had with him:

The last reminder was sent 11 August 2008 through Paypal. No response to date. Here is the reverse chronological order of our email exchanges.

Date: 17 Juli 2008: "I haven't received the promised payment yet. When will you honour your promise?"

Begin forwarded message: From: Date: 5. Juli 2008 15:36:57 GMT+02:00 To: Sean Diller <sexytd@mac.com> Subject: Re: Request to refund my order for the interoffice Mac sleeve

Hi Sean,

I can not find any trace of the refund. Can you please look into this asap?

This situation has been unresolved since March 28! I'm starting to lose my patience.

Best regards,

Ralph

Hi Sean,

I'm sorry about your dad.

It is over two months that I requested a refund (see below). I have been holding back from posting my thoughts on this subject in the .Mac forums and other sites comparing MacBook Air sleeves.

Can I expect a refund from you as promised? As of when will the pyment be on my Paypal account?

Best regards,

Ralph

Dear Sean,

I received the interoffice Mac sleeve for my Macbook Air (MBA) today. Thank you for the speedy delivery.

As feared, it does not satisfy my expectations regarding its size relative to the MBA. I had initially wanted to cancel my order citing the following reason as emailed to you on 18 March: "I was looking for a tight fit sleeve, that does not scratch my MBA. The sleeve I'm looking for must not be much larger than the MBA itself (a few millimeters circumference at most (not centimeters). A sleeve that is almost the size of a
15.4" Macbook Pro is not what I was expecting."

On the same day as my order for your product, I also ordered an aussiebag, which I received yesterday. The aussiebag exactly fits my needs as described above. I've attached two photos to show you the size difference (the MBA is in the aussiebag sleeve which lies on the non-opened interoffice Mac sleeve in cellophane). During the day, I carry my MBA in the aussiebag sleeve in a shoulder bag which fits both perfectly. The interoffice Mac sleeve is too large for this shoulder bag as well.

You had described the pictures in the .Mac forums as misleading, being those of another product and also for a 15" laptop, not the tight-fit MBA sleeve you were going to send me. The pictures show that your product is indeed much larger than the tight fit I was expecting. Therefore I cannot use your product.

<DSC_1394.jpg>

<DSC_1396.jpg>

I ask you to honor your pledge to reimburse the cost of the interoffice sleeve if I do not like it. It is not a question of looks to me, but size.

Please refund following paypal transaction back to my account. Here are the details I received when buying your product: Transaction ID: xxxxxxxxxxxx Item Price: $29,95 USD Total Shipping: $16,00 USD Total: $45,95 USD Order Description: InterOffice Mac Envelope Sleeve Item/Product Number: 0001 Buyer: xxx

What should I do with the sleeve?

Best regards,

Ralph

I just responded to those posts and sir I promise you they received the wrong sleeve and if you receive it and you do not like it you can have it for free. I promise you the pictures you are seeing is not a sleeve for the Air and I am not sure why they are posting these on there. I just posted a response to the pictures on Apples boards and they are showing pictures of a sleeve that is not for the Air . But if you are adamant about a refund then I will do so. It is really to bad that these people are single handedly trying to destroy me even though I have already been in contact with that person and they have a replacement on the way. I did not realize who he was until I posted my comment but again he has a replacement on the way and he did not say he was upset and that he understood we had a mistake. please let me know what you would like to do .

Hi,

I just ordered the Interoffice Mac sleeve for the MacBook Air. The payment has already been cleared through paypal. After reading comments in the forums on Apple.com, I have decided that I want to cancel my order and ask you to refund my payment to the Paypal account.

I was looking for a tight fit sleeve, that does not scratch my MBA. The sleeve I'm looking for must not be much larger than the MBA itself (a few milimeters circumference at most (not centimeters). A sleeve that is almost the size of a 15.4" Macbook Pro is not what I was expecting.

Therefore please cancel my order and conform this in writing and refund my Paypal payment.

You may want to include the dimensions of your sleeve on your website, so that people can determine for themselves if the size is Ok for them.

Best regards,

Ralph "

Wow, that seems like it was an ordeal. To summarize for everyone, the sleeve fits a normal MacBook but is too big for an Air. I'm sure the Air fit, but it would have been a loose fit.
