iSquint seems to only have the option for the standard iPod Classic screens - I don't think the video converted would look good on the iPod Touch screen. If you're willing to invest $20 USD into software (and what better time to do so with our dollar so high), I suggest you buy it's big brother VisualHub. It has iPod Touch specific converting built right in.
Interesting note: if you search for "iPod touch video converter" on MacUpdate, it brings you right to the VisualHub page.

Yeah, I'd assume Handbrake will be updated - not sure about iSquint. It wasn't updated for the iPhone (which is essentially another iPod), so I'm not expecting anything for the iPod Touch.
I really don't think it's a bad deal for VisualHub, but then again, if you're not doing a bit of video conversion, I can see how it can be seen as a waste of money. Lets hope for an upgrade to Handbrake soon!

All iPods support the same video sizes. So a video "optimized" for the iPhone (and therefore iPod touch since it's the same resolution) will work on the Classic/Nano and vice versa.
From Apple's tech specs page: "H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats" |

I'm assuming you've already converted the video and it's actually in iTunes.
Make sure that you have set the syncing up to include the video file. iSquint on max quality h.264 (or whatever it is) is fantastic for iPod touch with me. Handbrake has an iPhone setting which I assume will work on iPod touch but I haven't had enough time to convert on it. |
