Anyone else get the alpha invite to Things?

I've been playing around with it for less than 24 hours but so far this app is killer. I love the simplicity of it compared to all the other GTD apps out there. This is the first task management app that I think I could actually work with. I feels like it will fit into my workflow with ease.

Things is definitely more simple than other tools (*ahem* iGTD) but it's a lot more complicated than my GTD app of choice, TaskPaper. It's literally just a text file with some special styling.

To each his own, for sure though. TaskPaper hits the spot for me and I hope Things does the same for you!

I was really looking forward to trying it. Evidently I'm not special enough to get into the alpha, though. :P It still looks neat.

The problem with TaskPaper for me is that it's just too plain. I want something more visual, something that makes it easy for me to move projects around and see what's what. I'm really liking to overall user experience with Things.

@Raven - sorry you didn't get into the alpha it is neat

I think why I like TaskPaper so much is that there isn't a fancy visual interface. I would just get too distracted playing with it, I think! I'm glad you found something that works well though - having that "ah-hah!" moment is so satisfying!

@Raven - you can still get the preview, if you really want it. Unfortunately, it will cost you $59.02. Why? Well, MacUpdate is running a promo in which you get 12 apps + the Things preview for that price (right now - it's going up slowly!). There are some great apps in there, and it is a great price - view it here.

@yuiichi - Thanks, but I don't think I want it that much, not sight unseen.

I received my Alpha invite for Things and I'm quite liking it at the moment. The trouble is I need something that I can sync across multiple Mac's and that will work on 10.3. 9. My work PowerMac is stuck in the dark ages (in OS terms, it's a G5 with ok specs) and it's insanely frustrating. Maybe once I get Leopard for home I'll use my Tiger disk to put that on it.

I like the simplicity of Things compared to OmniFocus. Just hope they get multiple Mac syncing going, I'm keeping an eye on iGTD 2.

I just received an alpha invite as well. I've never been into the whole GTD thing, and now looks like a great opportunity to jump in.

If you are a new user to Things, I would suggest that you watch the screencast that pops up when you first open Things. It helped out a lot!

I've found a way to make Things work perfectly for me, I'll have to post a screenshot later.

Here's a screenshot of how I'm using Things.

I've taken the "next" view and created 4 projects.
1. In Progress
2. On Hold - Us
3. On Hold - Client
4. Events

I can then simplify the GTD workflow for me and have everything listed in one window, but this allows me to take advantage of the Things interface. I love the way it looks, the drag and drop features, the tags, and the logbook of finished items.
