can you tell me how can i delete a files in a memory stick?what i did before was i selected a file in the memory stick, and then click "move to trash", but the memory capacity didn't change, i just switched to mac a few weeks ago. my system is leopard. thanks for help

You'd have to empty the trash first. Hit Command-I and your free space should be back. Trash files are store in a hidden folder called .Trash on the volume itself. You have to empty the trash to actually remove the contents of that folder.

BBB has explained what you need to do.
It's a difference with the OS X and Windows. On Windows anything deleted on external devices are immediately erased and not put in the recycle bin, not the case on OS X, where deleted files are put in the trash (recycle bin), which then has to be emptied. That ones caught me out a few times. |

Interestingly, to mimic the Windows behavior, replace the .Trash folder with a .Trash flat file (like something that's really a .txt file.) Things will instantly be deleted.
