So when I am home, I have my Macbook Pro plugged into an Apple Display monitor, but when I go to work, I have a smaller monitor....is there a quick easy way to set it up so that when I am at work, I dont have to make all my windows smaller so I can see them on one screen...right now....my desktop looks all jumbled etc....
should i create a different admin and just have the specific settings for each environment? thoughts |

I don't think there is a way to make the windows themselves actually change their dimensions.
I assume the problem is because of differing resolutions.

You could take a look at this. I didn't read it properly, just remembered it being posted.

@philbowell: That article is for bookmarklets in your browser to click and resize...it wouldn't resize them automatically.

There is no way to easily adjust this to my knowledge. This annoyed me when I was using a display with my MacBook, and now it's annoying me because I have the preferences sync'ed with my iMac. I think I will turn that functionality off.
The issue is that there is a single preference file for the Finder for example, which holds information about window size and position, but nothing pertaining to resolution of display type. As far as I can see, there is no way around this barring different user accounts. |

User Accounts is what I was thinking also..and could be nice play....question is, if we create a different user account ( Ex: Office vs Home)...how do we get it so that each account is an exact mirror of the other ( email, docs etc)???? Can you log in from one user to the next...and have everything up to date and in synch????? I am praying yes....and will wait patiently for response....thanks

Off the top of my head the only thing I can think is to use a sync app, but it would still be messy. If you need to access the same information both at home and work then you are going to get a little stuck. User accounts really are designed for different people and/or modes rather than just to keep some *.plist's different.
In all honesty I don't think what you want it achievable in a satisfying way right now, but I know a lot of people who are bugged by the dilemma so I am hoping someone comes up with a good solution soon. |
