Same, in regards to TextMate, love that, always working in TextMate.

(and probably PS too, haha)

It certainly is a problem! The thing is Adobe have really cornered the market in with their Creative Suites, and no one really seems to want to take them on. That and its hard to change a whole industry once its "settled" on a standard.

Photoshop seems to be the clear leader on this thread. I'd like to see Apple bring out a pro app to contend with this, though it is likely just wishful thinking. Though they could make some nice integration with software like Motion and such. *shrug* Just a thought, anyways...

I don't think I would like an Apple image editor, just a hunch. The only reason I have Photoshop is because it's free and i have to teach it, otherwise I will take Gimp over that overpriced bloated Adobe software any day.

As for those that chose CS3 as a whole, you fail, utterly and completely. CS3 is a suite of applications, not an application. And on top of that, since Adobe decided to exploit it's (or "their" for the Brits =)) stranglehold, CS3 isn't even just one suite, so while being indecisive to begin with you are also being vague.

Try again.

And damn you Josh for blatantly breaking the rules in the exact way I told you not to, cause you're the owner of this joint so it's not like I can even pretend that there is recourse for your egregious behavior.

I'm the Store Manager and you're just a Concierge, so I'm not too worried.

The thing that I think is stopping Apple taking on Photoshop is that Apple's pro apps are all focused on workflow and one aspect. Photoshop is such a big app and is used in so many ways, for so many things that it almost seems impossible to see Apple creating a competitor. I do kinda think that if anyone takes Photoshop on it'll be Apple, but I really can't see them doing it.

Mine would be TextMate, though I'd have to have some sort of FTP application too. There are several applications I literally couldn't do without... not and be in the profession I've chosen:

- TextMate for editing
- Transmit for FTP/sFTP
- Photoshop for slicing comps and editing images occasionally

I'd have a real hard time living without these too... but for personal reasons:

- Newsfire
- iTunes
- twhirl

iTunes is embedded though, so that's one that you don't have to comprehend a life lived without! *phew* Thinking some more on this one, I have an interesting twist:

Apple build a Mac, but you can only choose one of the following in each category, where do you hedge your bets?

Networking/Comms:
Bluetooth
WiFi
Ethernet

I/O: (Keyboard and Mouse connections not included)
USB
FireWire 400
FireWire 800

Just thought it would pose an interesting question, given what Apple themselves chose to leave out when they made the MBA. Maybe you could think of more categories?

You'd have to choose WiFi and USB, as Apple did on the MacBook Air (they kept bluetooth though). Those are the most universally compatible even though they aren't the best.

I was thinking the same thing. Both WiFi and USB are so ingrained in each of our daily lives now, I don't think giving them up would be too pleasant.
