Well the Beta is finally here, I am very excited! It is available here, for those of you who want to check it out. On launch you get a warning that it will scroll slowly since you are running 10.5.2 because it requires a feature in 10.5.3; didn't make 10.5 like planned, but at least it is out before the dot release that it is programmed for. In spite of the warning, my scrolling doesn't seem bogged down at all.
It automatically adds iTunes content, which is sweet. The library update took a while, but I have over 600 books and 360 DVDs. I just wanted to let anyone who didn't know but wanted to that the beta was out, I have been following Shipley's tweets waiting for the announcement and it has finally come.

I've tested out the beta a little. The interface is very slick. There's not that much in terms of new features, but DL1 was a very full featured app to begin with.

Fantastic - thanks for posting this! Being at a brutal 11.5 hour shift at work caused me to miss the original tweet with this link and twitter doesn't seem to cache anything before the most recent tweets right now.
My impressions: library update didn't take so long (I have about 161 items total). Interface looks cool. I remember the details for items actually being a popup in beta versions I had seen... don't see that in this version (or can't figure out how to get it to work). Anyone know?

Hmmm, not only did it not auto-import my iTunes library...but I can't figure out how to import it.
Any ideas?

@Yuiichi - As far as I can tell, there is no longer the option for the popout window of details. I never liked the other, I like containment, so the resizable info pane at the bottom suits me well.
@Shipgford - There is a checkbox in the prefs menu to "Subscribe to my iTunes Library". But it should be checked by default and should have imported on initial update. Beyond that check box I have seen nothing regarding iTunes anywhere else.

Upon first launch, it told me repeatedly (making me click OK over and over) that there was a permissions error with my Applications folder, and so therefore couldn't move itself out of my Downloads folder. (The permissions on my Apps folder are fine, by the way. There shouldn't have been a problem.) And of course, it tells me I should upgrade to 10.5.3, an update which is not yet available. Not off to a good start.
