I am a new Mac user. I bought the 20" iMac in May. I love the Mac as I have been a PC user for years and was a little intimidated to start learning all new things. Well, my PC crashed one time too many in the midst of doing work for my business, so here I am. Anyway, I am having trouble downloading. I don't necessarily understand how truly simple it is or I am looking for extra steps that aren't there. Forgive me for the habitual aspect of our nature. How do I actually use an application that I have downloaded. Went through the whole process of downloading the DesignPro for Mac Avery software. Cannot open. I did cleared my downloads after I was assured that the download was complete from the introduction to the summary. Help. Do I have to do again? I did go through the download process a second time with the same result. Any suggestions?

The file would be in your Downloads folder. Just find the app in drag it into the Applications folder in the sidebar.

As BBB says, the application will be in your Downloads folder right now. What you need to do is move it to the Applications folder at the root of your hard drive (linked in the sidebar). You can then launch it from there and it will work properly.

Also, you may want to add it to your Dock for easy access. Once it's in your Applications folder, drag it to the dock to create the shortcut.

Thanks. I have tried the options you gave. Still cannot open. When I tried to move the file to the dock, warning came up saying file not valid. I will go back to the web and start over and see what happens. Thanks again.

Can you give us the link for where you are downloading this from?

Most downloads are actually packaged as disk images (.dmg files). Here's how you install them. Some applications will also come as installer packages. Those will look like boxes. They run through a standard installer program.

Thank you so very much! I have printed your instructions and will have them in an easy access hard copy file until my memory is satisfied. For us new Mac users, the explained instructions really do help. And a note to the extreme Mac users, we do appreciate your experience and knowledge that you pass on. Be blessed!
