I have a webcam on this iMac. I was looking forward to video conferencing with my son. He has a Toshiba laptop. He has a webcam. Now, he signed up for AIM like I did so we could share some family time. I am having the hardest time connecting on iChat. The seamless effort it should take in this software is not seamless at all. Or am I missing it? I have checked my accounts, etc. Can someone make a suggestion that will move me forward? Thanks.

It is generally AIM that is the problem. iChat to iChat video conferences work great. You may want to try using Skype for videoconferencing with Windows users. AIM for Windows has always had issues with video chatting.

I can confirm that Skype does work fairly well most of the time. It's mostly seamless for users at both ends and a heck of a lot more user friendly than AIM ever was.

Thanks, guys. I will call my son and we both can get set up on Skype. I will have so many passwords and logins I'll be able to publish a book here soon!

Be blessed!

Well, your Mac can help you with remembering all of those passwords and logins, at least those that you use on the internet. Check out 1Password, the fantastic password management application from Agile Web Solutions. Not only will 1Password store all of your logins, passwords, license codes, etc. securely, it will also let you input them in a web browser through just 2 clicks. Also, it has a strong password generator built in, just in case you want some extra protection. I really can't recommend it highly enough!

1Password (or 1Passwd) is great. It won't help you with application passwords, that's what the keychain is for. But for Safari passwords, I couldn't live without it.
