Which browser are you using? If it's Safari, you can use this terminal command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitShowsURLsInToolTips 0 Or you can get MacPilot which is supposed to do the same thing. Secrets, Onyx, and other may do this as well.

LOL not to hijack your thread but i was going to ask the opposite question... i just recently started using mac after being on pc and am using the latest version of safari. Back on Internet explorer (yuck) the link would appear in the bar at the bottom of the browser telling you where hot link is going to direct you, however on safari there is no bar on the bottom an moving my mouse to the link doesn't bring up the address but as houltmac said its a security feature and i like to know where a link will take me BEFORE i click it... a little help here??

In Safari, go to the View menu and hit Show Status Bar. The status bar will show the URL of any link when you hover over it. Not sure why Apple doesn't show it by default.

I'll definitely agree. The browser definitely looks better (in my opinion) without the Status bar up, but I've grown used to it.
