So here goes, I travel for work and I always have my macbook along with my forbidden PC. All the hotels I stay in have secured internet connections. I can hardly ever get the mac on the internet. The PC is always fine. Like now, I am on my PC, no issues with the internet connection. The mac will connect but you cannot get online. If you look in system preferences, internet, you can see that you are connected the message the mac gives you is that airport has assinged a IP address and you will have limited internet. PLEASE HELP. Does anyone have any clue? Run across the same issue?

If you're in a hotel you have to open Safari first and sign up and pay for the Internet access. Have you done that? Maybe Windows does that by default.

I always stay at Hiltons, I am a Diamond member there, the internet access is free and yes you are right, you do have to enter a passcode to get onto the internet but Safari will not let you get that far. Windows will. Windows automatically takes you to the Hilton Website where you can enter the passcode. I have have been successful one time with the Mac and it worked just like Windows. When Safari would open, it took you to the same page for you to enter the passcode. Any other ideas?

Have you tried visiting a website in Safari? I've found that the sign-on page doesn't automatically open, and that you have to try to access a site in a browser first. Also, have you tried another browser, such as Firefox? Give it a shot with Firefox and see if that will let you get on. Once you're on, you can switch back to Safari.
