Reinstalling iDVD will likely be ineffective, although it's worth a shot. Try it before buying a copy of Leopard.

OK. So I think I get it that the DVD in this case is the OS disks necessary to load and not another program. So, do you agree with Baseball Boy that this is the direction I should go? While I am not a student, I am not rich so if I can get away with troubleshooting my iDVD problem, I'd be very happy to do that. If you can give me any advice on this issue that does not require a large financial burden, I'd be very grateful to you (or anyone else reading this thread).

As BBB mentioned, try uninstalling iDVD and reinstalling it. It might work, it might not, but at least it's a free alternative (assuming you have the iLife DVD).

To anyone that is reading this thread looking for an answer to their problem with iDVD audio when using music from itunes, I got the fix from Apple's tech support website forum and it worked!
Here is the way I got it to work: It's Apple's protected DRM format that can't be used to burn DVDs. You'll need to burn a music CD, i.e. AIFF for backup, and then rip the CD back into iTunes as either mp3, AIFF or unprotected AAC. To check out the whole thread which contains a little bit more instruction see: Apple - Support - Discussions - Rendering/encoding audio issues ... |

That makes a lot of sense. I didn't realize you were using iTunes Purchased music in your DVD project - I thought you just meant music that played in iTunes. Glad you found your solution!

Here is my scenario: My brother exported a full quality quicktime file of his FCS 2 documentary project. The school's servers were deleted, and he somehow didn't have the raw footage backed up. So all that we have is his exported Quicktime file. So I have to work with this.
I am experiencing the same problems that this other guy has mentioned. Except the audio seems deliberately quiet for certain parts of the documentary. ie: one interview has super quiet audio, while the other is totally fine. The file itself plays perfectly on my computer. However, I tried burning DVDs in iDVD and failed several times. I used DVD studio pro, and failed. I finally got the DVDs to work by exporting a disk image in DVD studio pro, and burning the disk image itself. Now, I'm trying to get the video up to Youtube. And it is doing the same thing! I tried to recompress the quicktime file with mono sound, and now that compressed file with mono sound has the same problem! I feel like I'm taking crazy piills. What should I do? -Max PS I've tried on my Macbook Pro, my family's G5, and my buddy's brand new Macbook Pro. So I don't think reinstalling the OS will do it. |
