Alright, i have a 16 gig ipod Touch and a macbook that has 30 gig's or so of music on it. As i filled my computer past the capacity of my ipod I'm left with two options (as far as i know) for syncing. The fist is too manually select the music i want on my ipod but that stops all my itunes playlists like most played top rated etc. from syncing. As i want all my playlists and ratings etc. to sync i have it set up to automatically sync only checked songs. This works great for me except the fact that my itunes will now skip over half my music when i have music just playing from the library as it only plays checked songs unless you manually click the song to start playing. Ive looked through the preferences but cant find anything to remedy this. A little help here?

That's one of the ways check/uncheck songs is supposed to work, I'm not aware of any way of turning it off.

I'd suggest making copies of the playlists you like and then using the "Limit to" criteria, that's available with smart playlists. Another way would be to give a half star to the songs you wish to exclude and then adding that criteria.

So the sum of all your playlists exceeds all or your iPod memory? I also have about 30 GB of music. It just so happens that all of my playlists combined, only use about 10 GB. On most albums, I find I only have selected about 3 out of the 10 tracks into a respective playlist. There are plenty of albums where I like to listen to the whole thing, but for the majority, I bought the CD due to a couple of tracks. The sum of all my playlists leaves numerous days of play time on my iPod, and I only tend to "explore" my music while at home, streaming to my Express and stereo from iTunes. This allows all the iTunes features to work normally at home, and allows the "Sync all Playlists" to work normally on the iPhone. You must have some extensive playlists.
