I use iTunes to subscribe to countless podcasts. Lately I've been having a problem where a podcast episode will appear to download but in reality only part of the episode is downloaded. The episode might be twenty minutes long but iTunes has only downloaded the first five minutes and now thinks it has successfully completed the download.
I would guess that these episodes are timing out while downloading, but that is only a theory. But the real problem is that I want the whole episode not just part of it. How can I convince iTunes that it hasn't downloaded the episode at all thereby giving it a second chance to retrieve the entire episode? Thanks, Kung Fu Eats http://www.kungfueats.com |

Only thing I can think of is to delete the partial download from your Library then have iTunes redownload.
If you can't seem to delete it, try selecting it, and pressing Option-Delete with your keyboard. |

If it's the most recent version of the Podcast, try redownloading it from the iTS manually. Or delete it and re-do it. Failing that you could unsubscribe from the Podcast and re-subscribe after deleting that episode, it should give you a list of the Podcasts you haven't got downloaded when you re-subscribe.

I have this problem a LOT. I usually manage to catch it before I sync up the iPod and then I can remove those podcast episodes and start them downloading again.
I find that I have to delete the episode and then unsubscribe/re-subscribe to the podcast (or force a refresh with the option-click on the arrow next to the podcast name). Then I can either wait for the normal download to happen if it is the most recent episode or I force iTunes to GET the episode. Then I have to go through the podcast episodes and delete all the ones that I have already deleted because I am done listening to them. I wish that there was some kind of system where iTunes could check an MD5 key or something to determine if it has downloaded the podcast episode correctly. It sure would save a lot of frustration on my part.

First expand the podcast and then delete the bad and/or missing episodes. Then collapsed the podcast by clicking the triangle, and then expand it while holding the option key. This will cause iTunes to totally update the podcast. It will add the other episodes back in and one just needs to hit 'Get' to re-download the specific series.

In windows Itunes ctrl or alt doesn't work. But shift does work.
Close the list, hold the shift-key and re-open the list. It will show the deleted items again. Also, you can click the arrow in the title of the podcast. This goes to the iTunes store and lists all the shows and you can GET it again. jwa. Last edited by jwa999; 10-05-2007 at 08:30 PM. |
