Actually, we recently took my boys 3 1/2 and 15 months, to see Flushed Away, wow was it great!

But then again, we love animated movies, and that includes Aardman films (Wallace and Grommit, etc.)

I highly recommend it! The Slugs are awesome!

Has anyone watched the preview for Smoking Aces? That movie looks nuts.
300 looks pretty amazing as well.

Weldon - how'd you like Goal?

Well, I just discovered Redbox (pretty cool) and watched the new Pirates of the Caribbean. But you asked about GOOD movies, so no, I haven't seen any lately.

Just watching Firefly re-runs.

I liked Goal. The relationship with the father was predictable from the first few minutes, but I thought the love interest and roommate side stories held a few surprises which I enjoyed.

To be honest, I thought the actual football footage was weak - a bunch of tight shots on his feet when they should've shown the open field and the defenders reacting to the attack. It was at the point (for me) where it felt like they didn't have any footage of real play so they just threw in some tight shots of him dancing around the ball to make it look like there was some drama in the action scenes. I'm a stickler for realism in sports movies. I thought Miracle was good (but I'm not a big hockey fan), For Love of the Game was just OK, Remember the Titans was decent, Friday Night Lights was decent, Coach Carter was OK, and so on. I'd rate Goal 3/5 stars for sports realism.

Overall I'd rate it 4/5, a movie that I enjoyed watching, would likely watch again, but wouldn't necessarily need to own for my own collection.

Nicks: I wasn't that impressed with Happy Feet, political messages in kids movies? bit iffy! I also got rather bored in it, not fussed about seeing it again, found the middle bit to be a bit, meh, really. It had some good bits, but didn't think was as good as other animated movies.

I just rented Superman Returns. It was pretty good. Worth seeing especially if you have kids to entertain!

I'd agree with that assessment. I simply meant in terms of not knowing what to expect, and being stuck in a kid's movie, it was enjoyable enough...now had I known about it before hand, I don't think I would've plunked down the $35 for my family to see it in the theater...
