Do the movie theaters themselves have to pay more for the rights to show the films and the equipment? Do they need to overcharge on the drinks and snacks in order to stay in business? I haven't been to the theater for so long and I'm happy with just checking DVDs out of my local library.

60-80 RMB for a movie ticket (about 8-10 USD). They'll pretty much let you bring in whatever outside food you want without question.
DVD's on the other hand cost 5-8 RMB (about .60 - .80 USD) Granted they are copies of the real deal, but you can get all the latest movies and shows. |

We've tried to only go a couple times a month cuz the cost is getting too high ($9.50 per person). I used to be able to buy discount tickets for $5 each, but they are getting harder and harder to find. Anyone know a website where you can buy these?
