@Matt - I just have to wonder - does the MBA get even louder than the MacBook does when viewing flash? Considering I've never even seen an Air in person, I don't know about it, but the MacBook does get awful loud when on YouTube or other flash video sites.

My solution to this? Headphones

It's probably a little quieter because the fan is slightly smaller I would imagine. I haven't had it apart enough to look at it, so it might be that the fan is a slightly higher quality. Either way, it's slightly quieter but not much.

The MacBook Pro handles flash video with ease, and neither it nor the MacBook have had an issue with fans/temperature and h.264 in my experience. If it wasn't for the video side of things, the MacBook Air would be perfect for me most of the time. As I said however, as video creation and connectivity become more of an issue in my life I am starting to regret the decision.

So I just thought I'd update that the MBA is now as good as new. In fact it's better because it's been properly tested now.

I replaced the top case today and all is well. It wasn't so bad to take apart actually, but I wouldn't want to do it without the proper equipment. Took a little getting used to, but all in pretty simple. Only took about 30 minutes and it was the first time.

Anyway, anyone looking to purchase it can email directly, and anyone with any questions about the fix can leave comments here.
