@AGurlNamedGoo. Yes, price would be the reason for not getting my 2 children MBPs. One MBP makes 2 MBs for the same price seem like a bargain. Kid's use doesn't normally (in the middle school age) seem to more than web browsing and word processing for school work. I wouldn't be worried about graphics cards and gaming, etc. I think any kid should feel pretty fortunate if their parents can provide them with any laptop.

Now for Dad, . . . . it's the MBP. I want to be able to use my Final Cut. Plus, the speed advantages for heavy Photoshop use/filters is also important to me. And with no Firewire on the MBA, it is out of the fight for Video work / easy HD Camera connectivity. I also want built-in optical read and write.

I agree - kids should be lucky to have any laptop from their parents.
I was asking because I was worried that you were going to say the MBP was less reliable or something, and then I'd have to rethink everything I've been thinking for the past couple weeks haha
