So the end of my semester is upon me and after I crank out 989 Lithographs over the next few days I will have more downtime than I am accustom to. While I have a solid list of books to get at and projects to work on, nothing says summer like hours spent playing video games. I sold my PS2 early last year and am considering picking up one on eBay because I still never played the last Hitman, but if I don't I could use some suggestions for some good Mac gaming titles to occupy my time when I'm not in the mood to read or get work done. I have played very little as far as comp titles go so even year old titles are worth mentioning. So those of you that play on your Macs, hit me with some good titles. =) And I have Windows but it is for utility only, I'm not willing to spend time for enjoyment on the creepy XP side of my computer. And feel free to throw out anything that excites you, I play everything from Clancy games to UniSudoku to DEFCON to Sketch Fighter to WoW.

Unreal Tournament is an old favorite - 2004 was easily the best so don't be fooled by the whole "the originals always the best" trick. Doom3 is about the only other game I have played in OS X...

Age of Empires 3 is good.

If you do venture to the Windows side, look up FEAR multiplayer (it went free awhile back) - it's worth spending time on the dark OS.

I haven't personally sampled it, but Guitar Hero III seems an awesome prospect as far as gaming on a Mac goes. Unreal Tournament too, I'd agree with that. xD I see from your post that you already play WoW, so there goes my primary Mac game.

I'm lucky when it comes to gaming, my fiancée has a Wii, PS2 and an xbox 360, and we both play WoW together, so it's all good.

Hah, I might be the resident "hardcore" gamer here. Unfortunately, I don't do any Mac gaming, or at least not much. I suggest you take a look at some free indie titles - something like Gamma Bros is available in either Flash or native Mac formats, if you wish.

If you want to experience some of the best storytelling gaming has to offer, I really do suggest you check out Half-Life 2 and the Half-Life 2 Episodes. Unfortunately, they're only available for PC or Xbox 360, but they're readily available (if you download Steam, you can purchase them online and download them right away). As for the suggestion of F.E.A.R multiplayer, I played it for a while when it went free but didn't enjoy it. For multiplayer, I strongly suggest Team Fortress 2 (also available on Steam) - highly addictive and very beautiful.

I'm sorry that most of these were PC/console only titles - if I can find anything that's good and available for Mac, I'll let you know!

I used to be a huge PC gamer, it's where I learned about using computers in the first place really. Since I moved to the Mac I have done very little gaming since I no longer have a Windows box (can't bring myself to install it on my lovely MacBook Pro), and I can't do console gaming anymore - the old thing about FPS and controllers.

Still, I can suggest a huge range of PC games if you don't mind running Windows too much.

Absolutely opposite for me - I could not stand the Half Life series, gave me motion sickness!
And Counter Strike was even worse, there is just something about being in a FPS and not being able to lean that kills it for me.

But that all stems from the best game ever! SOF2. Oh the days (and nights) and days again of playing Soldier of Fortune 2 when OSX was just first released.

Anyone played the expansion pack for AOE3 that's out for the mac? I've was going to buy it but my son is grounded for awhile so I'm waiting.

Hah, you're kidding! That's the exact problem that I had when I played F.E.A.R. All the motion blur and crazy movement on the screen got me motion sick! I guess thats the difference of being raised on SOF and HL
