When I was growing up in Montreal, Quebec, there was a small restaurant that used to make a homemade cherry coke. This was before the real Cherry Coke came out. Pure goodness, lots of cherry syrup and coke.....alas, I haven;t had one in almost 20 years.

I concur. I tried it once, and couldn't finish it. Doesn't really suit my tastes.
I'm more of a root beer/diet coke person myself. I also really enjoy a citrus beverage called Ting - anyone ever try it?

Dr. Pepper is wonderful! I am biased as my grandfather was the treasurer of DP and so I was basically weaned off my mother and on to the stuff. No offense, but considering that the complainers are in foreign lands, you haven't really had DP anyhow. International Pepper hasn't been made by DP since the 80s and is thus highly inconsistent in its recipe. Not that this would change your opinion of it as it is definitely for a specific taste. Being down here in Dallas allows me the great satisfaction of drinking Dublin DP, still made with real cane sugar. That is in fact what I am drinking now, and usually what I am drinking when I am posting about in these pages.

This was from about 1990-2000ish - 20 million people voted with their wallets and I suspect the only reason it survives in the US is because it is such a large market that they only need to get .5% of people liking it and they have 15 million customers. |
