Hello Danniboy, welcome to TAB! Also glad to help with any photo questions. Nice camera to start out with! The 10.1 megapixel sensor will serve you well. You have a 1.6 "Crop Factor" with that camera, which will make your 300mm lens a 480mm equivalent. So if you enjoy nature shots and wildlife, you will really benefit. Enjoy
. The photo you posted is a nice capture. You may even get better results to step away from "auto" if you used it and force the camera to use a lower ISO in dimmer lighting and landscape type shots were longer shutter speeds wont cause subject blur. That will reduce the minor noise in the darker mountain colors, that increases with increased ISOs. Your max ISO is 1600 with the 400d, but you always want to shoot at the lowest ISO your subject and required shutter speed will allow. Tripods are also recommended when possible, especially in dimmer light/slower shutter speeds, to prevent the softness (blur) you can see in the image. Beautiful setting you were in to take that, is that near where you live, or were you just visiting? Curious where you were. I would like that view off my rear deck Again, welcome, and hope to see you back at TAB!

Congratulations. You'd be happier with a Nikon, but we'll accept you even with a Pentax.
![]() Oh and you'll want to keep the 18-55 around, but you'll want to use it when you see its results next to the 50-135.

Since they're snapshots, I don't have that much to say. Looks like you are enjoying your camera though.

Looks like you used the blue truck to catch a tree (or a meteor) . . . hope the dog wasn't in there for that
![]() Nice desktop too, being the Simpsons fan that I am. Looks like a pretty good size monitor, judging by the icons and dock size. I like. I have fun experimenting with the new camera.
