He's maybe the closest thing in the PC world, isn't he?

It's just too sweet to laugh at how W R O N G Michael Dell got it way back when Jobs was still iCEO.

I blogged about it more here:

Can Michael Dell Pull A Steve Jobs?

What say you?

sounds like a tool. Funny how wrong he was about Apple. I don't think he'll pull it off, but that's just me drinkin' the hate-o-rade.

Losh

looks like a the people are split between "no" and "who cares" but overall a negative outlook. The people have spoken!!

I highly doubt it.

I'm the one who said maybe... sorry. I don't know much about the company or him other than he changed the way people buy, and companies manufacture, computers. A man with vision running the ship controls the direction. He had a great thing going at one time. Maybe it will happen again.

Competition and a free market make companies like Apple better. Bring it.

I completely agree with this statement. The more, the merrier I say.

But, in this case, I sincerely doubt that any executive can match Steve Jobs' level of enthusiasm, vigor, and reality distorting methods. It's been said that you don't actually know what you want until Steve tells you what you want - another principal that I think holds true.

Michael Dell might be the closest alternative in the Windows PC market, but he's no Steve Jobs.

I think the operative words in your statement are, "Closest alternative in the Windows PC market." In all reality, Dell just manages hardware. It's a production facility. They have really nice TVs. Their computers are monstrous beasts that are horribly ugly and make me appreciate my Mac every time I see one of them.

But you never know. The guy may have been watching Mac Eye for the PC Guy and is going to make some pretty startling changes.
