Hey all,

Twitter is a relatively new thing for me - a universal status page to tell your friends (and the rest of the world) whatever is on your mind currently. I find this intriguing, although I'm at a juxtaposition. I'm not sure what to do with it or why I update it. I only have 1 'friend' on Twitter and I don't know how many people read my blog, and even if those people care to find out what's on my mind.

So, my question to you is: do you use Twitter? How do you integrate it into your life? Why do you update? Is there any use beyond the obvious?

Answering any of these questions would be helpful for me!

It's kind of a neat concept, but I don't really care what other people are doing and I don't really feel like updating the site just so they can see what I'm doing. I don't really see any practicality in it that would get me to use it.

I use it as a kind of one status to rule them all. It updates my Adium status as well as the status on my blog. I don't use it for the conversations much, just generally to tell what I'm upto. It's more so I know what I was doing at a certain time.

I was thinking of that as a use. I might start a blog, and the Wordpress plugin looks like a useful way to update article progress (or make excuses when I'm too busy).

I recently blogged about how I set it all up, if you want to take a look. I'm looking for a nicer way to do my blog status so it's not really included in the post.

While testing, I notice that loading my blog really hangs for a while, and the culprit is the twitter javascript in my sidebar. So much for updating my blog status directly from Quicksilver...

I suppose I'll use Applescript and some other web service to hack it together.

I've stayed away from the whole Twitter thing purely because I don't want any other things to take up more time. Twitter seems really fun, but I just don't want to get sucked into it.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. I don't really mind it, since it only seems to hang when a new update happens, but it's still there none-the-less. I'd love to see what you come up with.

@Baseballboy - I understand what you're saying. But I'd like to say, from experience, that unless you have some friends that use Twitter, it doesn't really have that much appeal. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who have friends that don't really care what you're doing every second.
